Our friend group usually calls her ducky, because she might as well be a fluffy yellow duck herself. She even quacks when she’s exited, it’s really cute. We shall call my friend Ducky to make writing this a bit easier, because to only call her She sounds so distant…

Ducky’s fascination with ducks has led her to adore the character Lucifer, from the Hazbin Hotel show. He is a big duck fan, and so is she. Ducky knew I could crochet, she asked me if I could make her a duck based on the Hazbin Hotel show. I told her I could, and so the commission request was born. So I started to work on the Lucifer duck (:

I first started with the little duck itself, it’s just perfect to hold in your palms. Ducky was especially a big fan of the wings because they were movable. The flappy wings fascinated her. I used Alize velluto in the colour Light Yellow (13) for the body and wings and Alize velluto Light Orange (550) for the beak. The eyes I used are 8mm black safety eyes I think, but dont quote me on that. I used a 3.5mm hook, which is very small for the yarn I used, but the duck did turn out pocked sized like how Ducky requested of me.

The character of Lucifer has a big hat, it is one of his most recognisable clothing pieces. I didn’t exactly have a pattern for a hat, so I just messed around. In the end it did turn out really well. I had the perfect colour of creamy white yarn and a good deep red for the accent. Both the white and red yarn (and the yellow one for the snake) were acrylic ones that I have owned for years, so I have no clue where I got it. I used a 2.5mm hook for the hat and snake, that way the stitches would be close together.

Lucifer also has a little golden snake on his hat. That was quite a bit of work. Especially because I was running out of the yellow yarn I was using fast… I barely managed to complete the snake, no yarn was left over. I could attach the little fellow and there, the hat was done.

The next step was the little bowtie. I decided to make that with the same fluffy yarn I used for the Luci duck itself. For the people who are curious: I used Alize velluto yarn, and a 3.5mm hook. Once again very small. Doesn’t the duck look like a distinguished little gentleman?

(These photos were in fact taken in one of the classrooms of my school at the time, please don’t mind the bad quality of the pictures)

In the end, Ducky was so happy with her pocket Lucifer duck that she gave me a big tip.
